Col'cachio Remodel
Project Type
Remodel
Date
August 2023
Location
280 Florida Rd, Windermere, Berea, 4001
Taking inspiration from the foundational love story behind the establishment of Col’cacchio restaurant, the design concept revolves around the iconic Roman Goddess of Love, Venus, as well as Roman architectural elements, notably the columns found in the Parthenon, and the Cycladic architectural style originating from Greece. This design harmoniously captures the graceful and delicate essence of Venus’ flowing attire, as depicted in Botticelli’s Renaissance masterpiece, ‘The Birth of Venus’. The incorporation of Roman architectural features is evident through the transformation of the restaurant's square columns into evocative structures reminiscent of ancient Rome. Complementing this, a monochromatic color palette pays homage to the Cycladic aesthetic from Greece.
To infuse depth and dimension, tactile qualities and distinctive shapes were introduced through the integration of arches and a diverse range of materials. These include intricate tiling, a unique mosaic motif, and an elegantly scalloped plaster design that reverently nods to the shell upon which Venus rests in Botticelli's iconic painting.
